Canadian

Just had a couple come to my ticket window & ask for an oilers schedule. They flew/drove from Washington, D.C. just to see the Wayne Gretzky statue. They told me about their amazing trip thus far & how absolutely beautiful they find my country. I may not be a very vocally proud Canadian but when I have an American tell me how wonderful my country is, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride.

Guy Fieri takes a bite out of Vancouver

thevancouversun:

TV personality Guy Fieri sat in a shiny red Camero on Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver this afternoon, revving the engine while filming a scene for his travelling foodie show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Of the city, the chef opines: “I mean, I wish I could give you a real quick sentence to kind of wrap it all up, but I’ll just pick one word: Outrageous.”

Read on.

WHATEVER HE FINDS, I WILL FIND.

These painted streets look amazing, its great to see such vibrant colours actually on the streets. The neat perspective given to the street really draws people in and I hope this alley becomes more of a walk-able route because of this project. I really appreciate all the work and effort put in by the people involved, Thank You So Much! The most interesting effect of this new piece is how it makes the disgusting Capital City Clean Up sanctioned grey blobs even more revolting. I don’t want the inclusion of these grey blobs to be read as a critique of the street painting, I encourage people to go look at these alleys and see how out of place and ridiculous the grey blobs look when so closely compared to these fantastic pieces of community focused art.

This is such a great idea and commentary on the idea of “dead”/unusable spaces within cities; I’m excited to go check it out for myself.

Went hunting for these streets and FOUND THEM. So lovely! More of these need to appear in our city.

Once again, ‘redneck’ Alberta defies stereotype by picking female premier
“First, a word about our beloved redneck Alberta — you know, the province with a Muslim mayor of Calgary, a Jewish mayor of Edmonton, an Indo-Canadian leader of the Official Opposition and a young female leader of the right-wing Wildrose.
And, now, we have a female Progressive Conservative premier, Alison Redford.”

I love everything today. But especially that Jew Mandel. I love Stephen Mandel. He is so cyute.

Go Alberta!
